Our History
The owners Larry and Lugene Hammond worked for various fortune 500 companies in their early years. Such  as Speedway Petroleum, a division of Marathon oil and Ice Miller a corporate law office. Larry has a degree in  retail operations and business from the University of Cincinnati. In 1988 their dream of owning their own business became a reality. Their first endeavor was a small candy/popcorn store called Pop ‘N Stuff in Gatlinburg, Tn. They operated this store until 1997, in which it was sold in that year. In 1995 they opened their 2nd store in Myrtle Beach, SC at Broadway at the Beach and their 3rd store at Myrtle Beach Mall. But, as fate has it they lost their lease at Broadway at the Beach. This caused them to loose all operations to Pop’N Stuff in 2007. Lugene went back to work in office and accounting jobs and not wanting to have anything to do with Larry’s entrepreneurial spirit. Larry was not in good health and was totally disabled with various heath concerns which remain to this day. But, still not wanting to sit and do nothing he began by “fooling” around on eBay, buying and selling products.  Then in 2008 he bought a case of “Wish” pearls. He remembered them from back in the sixties and thought he would try selling them. With $10 he purchased a few to try. They sold fast and with that money he bought more, so $10 turned into $100, and $100 turned into $1000 and you guessed it, $1000 turned into $10,000. Oyster and Pearls tm  was born. Oyster & Pearls tm was established in 2008. The company was started as a small business to supplement their income from their garage. It has grown quickly into a thriving company, now filling an office and warehouse. They have 1000’s of accounts all over North America and the Caribbean. All the way from Alaska to Bermuda and as far south as Aruba. Lots of places that you have probably been! Larry & Lugene have operated retail stores and companies since 1988 and offer their expertise and experience to cart operators and retailers. They can help by answering any questions you have from start-ups to daily operations. I forgot to mention, Lugene now operates the company, Diana, their daughter designs the boxes and Larry still helps when he can by making decisions that effect the company, operations and its marketing.
